Apple iPhone 16 Review Details
The Apple iPhone 16, set to release on September 20, 2024, operates on iOS 18 and features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 1179 x 2556 pixels, protected by Ceramic Shield glass. It is powered by the Apple A18 chipset, has a Hexa-core CPU, and a 5-core GPU, supporting 2G to 5G networks with Dual eSIM capability. The device includes a 48MP dual main camera, a 12MP selfie camera, and a non-removable Li-Ion battery with wireless charging support.
Design
The major design change that we have witnessed on the iPhone 16 is the redesigned camera module. The Cupertino tech giant has bought back the vertical camera layout from the past on this new guy. It’s quite a while since we haven’t seen a vertical module since the iPhone 12.
Meanwhile, the boxy frame design is here to stay with a metal build in the middle. That’s because the more sturdy and fancy titanium build is reserved for the Pro models to maintain the gap. Plus, the Action Button is also now available on the vanilla model for the first time, bidding farewell to the mute switch button (RIP alert slider). So, the volume rockers are there below the action button. Well, that’s not only it, Apple has also added an extra Capture Button on the side of the power button as well. As for the color comes with Black, White, Pink, Teal, and Ultramarine.
Display
In terms of display, the iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display same as its predecessor. While Apple has redesigned the camera module, it has also introduced much thinner bezels. However, the refresh rate remains at 60Hz, which is surprising given that we are nearing the end of 2024. But, as always, it’s Apple being Apple!
Performance
The iPhone 16 uses the Apple 18 SoC across the board. Likewise, a new thermal design with a graphene layer also comes with the iPhone 16 models. Similarly, you’ll now get the memory of 8GB supported by a storage capacity of up to 512GB.
Camera, Battery, and Others
The iPhone 16 retains its dual-camera setup, featuring a 48MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, without a resolution upgrade this time. However, it now offers the ability to capture macro shots. On the battery front, it brings a 3,561mAh battery which might contribute to a longer 6% battery life. Moreover, the iPhone 16 brings WiFi 7, a USB Type-C port, and an AI-enhanced Siri experience.
Besides that, a bunch of AI improvements are in the store, with Apple Intelligence marking a new feat in the smartphone market.
